We’re delighted to share the latest edition of The Laker newsletter – our fourth quarterly update bringing you all the news, stories and successes from around Manvers Lake. This festive issue reflects on a busy and inspiring few months, from milestone sporting achievements and community events to heartfelt farewells and exciting plans for the year ahead.
This issue also marks the end of an era at Manvers as we say a fond farewell to Chris Hawkesworth, who has made the difficult decision to step down from his roles as Club President and Trustee of the Manvers Lake & Dearne Valley Trust. As a founder of the Trust, Chris’s vision, leadership and unwavering dedication have been central to the growth and success of Manvers over the past decade. His commitment has helped shape the club into the thriving, welcoming community it is today, and his legacy will be felt for many years to come. We thank Chris sincerely for his outstanding service and wish him every happiness in his well-earned retirement, knowing he will always remain a valued part of the Manvers family.
Inside, you’ll find highlights from Couch to 5K, Hana’s Santa Dash, dragon boat racing at national level, a thriving winter swimming community, children’s activities at the lake, and a look ahead to upcoming events and opportunities in 2026.
Grab a brew, settle in, and catch up on everything that’s been happening at the lake – and as always, thank you for being part of the Manvers family.
