Open Water Swimming Winter Season Rules and Procedures
All swimming sessions are on a strict fixed start time
Swimmers must be ready to swim before the advertised start time
The safety briefing will take place at the advertised start time
Any swimmer missing the safety briefing MUST NOT SWIM
Start Times for weekday swims are published the week before to adjust for daylight conditions
All swims must be booked on webcollect (we will check)
The check-in clip board will be located on the desk near the changing room door
Swimmers must check in before the safety briefing
Swimmers must check out as soon as they leave the water
Please take time to acclimatise and regulate breathing before attempting to swim
To maintain acclimatisation to cold water you must keep swimming
Listen to your body, do not plan you swim based on time or temp
If it doesn't feel right or swimming is hard it's time to get out
Do not swim if unwell this will exaggerate the effects of cold water shock
Make suer you have warm dry clothes and a warm drink
As always Skin swimmers must have a tow float, all swimmers must have a brightly coloured hats (swim caps or bobble hats)
Consider if you need additional layers or neoprene gloves and socks (see the winter swimming advice post)
The changing rooms will be open with limited availability
The session end time will be adjusted according to light and water temp and is at the swim leader discretion
Swim leader word is final do not argue
No Solo swimming, if you are the last swimmer left you must get out do not start another lap.
