Thanks to funding from the Wath Ward Budget Manvers Lake have this afternoon been presented with metal warning signs for all their entrances to remind visitors not to use the area on off-road motorcycles or quads bikes to make the area a safe place for all its users.
A reporter from ITV was at the lake this morning filming for a feature about Open Water Swimming to be broadcast over the next couple of weeks.
Club Chair Mark Benton and swimmer Becki Finch answered questions about Open Water Swimming in general, and what makes Manvers such a great venue for the sport. Interviews over, Mark, Becki and seven other club swimmers braved the "less than favourable" conditions so that they could be filmed taking part in their favourite sport.

Three young female paddlers from Manvers Waterfront Boat Club recently attended the Slalom Inspires 2019 event. Grace Black, Hannah Lancaster and Pola Tomasik were among fifty aspiring female slalom paddlers who took to the water at Lee Valley White Water Centre over the weekend of 9/10th November.
The event was created by 2017 World C1 team gold medallist Eilidh Gibson to address the gender imbalance of slalom in the UK while also inspiring those already in the sport to nurture their talents and fall in love with the sport.
Having had her Tokyo Olympic dreams shattered by a career threatening shoulder injury, 24-year-old Eilidh channelled her passion for the sport into Slalom Inspires which, in the past 12 months, has seen more than 200 girls from across the country take part in her events.
Speaking on the event, Eilidh said: “Slalom Inspires comes from my love of the sport and how much the sport has changed my life and the opportunities it has given me which I wouldn’t have had beforehand.
“For me it’s all about the love for canoeing and if the girls want to be Olympic athletes then great and we’ll support them. But if they just want to do it for the love of canoeing then great we’ll support them to do exactly that too, to stay in the sport and have fun.
"This weekend we’ve done a hot dogs session where the girls are absolutely beaming and having fun on the water. We’ve done tubing, canyoning, white water rafting as well as all the canoeing sessions which really are just about having fun.”
British Canoeing have today announced the England Talent Programme Slalom Squad Lists for 2019/20. Once again Manvers Waterfront Boat Club is well represented in the Northern Super Regional Squad and the Northern Regional Talent Academy:
Antoni and Pola Tomasik both move up to join Grace Black in the Northern SRS. Iga Tomasik and Hannah Lancaster remain in the Northern RTA where they are joined this year by Austin Gould - a great achievement for someone who only started paddling just over a year ago.
Well done to all of our paddlers - your hard work and dedication has paid off.

Following another successful year at the club and the ever increasing popularity of Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) we've recently added to the SUP fleet at Manvers.
Seen in the pictures are the clubs 4 new Red 9'4 Snapper boards, and the 2 new Red 9'8 Ride boards.
The 9'4 Snappers are the specialist kids board, very light, go like a dream, and are already proving to be very popular.
The 9'8 Rides are the same as the existing couple of small boards the club has, and are a great junior and small adult board. (They are also great for practicing the step back turns, when the water warms up again).
We're also trying out some adjustable junior SUP paddles from Red, Jobe and H20. So let us know which you like best.
Thanks to all our members for continuing to support the club, and for supporting some of the large events that have been held at the club this year, as it's only through your support that the club is able to provide such great kit.
Manvers Waterfront Boat Club is a thriving multi-sport club based at Manvers Lake in South Yorkshire.
