Spooky Paddle 2025: A Frightfully Fun Evening on the Water

Saturday evening brought our annual Spooky Paddle to life — and what a success it was! Over 60 paddlers took to the water for an evening of Halloween fun and creativity

The event featured competitions for Best Fancy Dress and Best Dressed Craft, with a fierce (and slightly fishy) shark taking the top costume prize, and a beautifully illuminated SUP board winning the craft category.

From SUPs and kayaks to canoes — and even a dragon boat — the water was full of glowing silhouettes and spooky decorations. As dusk fell, the sight of all the lit-up crafts drifting across the water created a magical Halloween scene.

On land, our younger members enjoyed Halloween-themed colouring and games, adding to the festive atmosphere.

To round off the evening, everyone gathered for warm food and hot drinks, with hot dogs, cakes, and plenty of nibbles keeping spirits high and hands warm.

It was a wonderful evening — the weather was kind, the laughter constant, and the sense of fun unmistakable. A huge thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make this year’s Spooky Paddle one to remember!
