More than 100 determined runners braved the miserable winter drizzle on Saturday as Hana’s Santa Dash and Fun Run returned to Manvers Lake. Despite the weather, spirits were high as participants took to the course dressed as elves, reindeer, Christmas trees  and even a dinosaur, creating a vibrant and joyful spectacle.

The festive morning began with the Fun Run at 9:30am, followed by the Santa Dash at 10:00am. One particularly dedicated participant completed both the Fun Run circuit and then three additional laps as part of the Dash.

The event once again raised funds for Team Verrico, the cancer charity founded in memory of Hana Szczepkowski. Over the years, Hana’s Santa Dash has become a much loved annual fixture in the Manvers Lake calendar, drawing families, seasoned runners, and festive first timers alike.

“Even with the drizzle, you couldn’t wipe the smiles off people’s faces. The energy, colour and community spirit are what make this event so special, year after year,” said Mark Benton of Manvers Waterfront Boat Club, organisers of the event.

Team Manvers extended heartfelt thanks to all runners, supporters and volunteers who helped make the morning possible. Teresa, one of the key volunteers, said:

“Incredible morning at today’s Santa Dash and Fun Run! Massive thanks to everyone for all your help this morning. A great event despite the weather. Some wonderful feedback and lots of funds raised for Team Verrico in memory of Hana.”

Runners laughed, chatted and supported one another throughout the morning, proving that a little bad weather is no match for  remembrance and Christmas spirit.
