![]() Saturday 31st August saw Manvers Lake play host to the 2019 Kerala Pooram Boat Race & Carnival organised by the Union of United Kingdom Malalyalee Associations (UUKMA), a registered charity which represents over 50,000 expatriates from the Indian state of Kerala who live in the United Kingdom. Despite the less than clement weather over 2,500 members of the Malayalee community from across the UK assembled at Manvers Lake to witness a spectacular day of “Chundan Vallam” (snake boat) racing, along with cultural stalls, food stalls, live music, folk dance from the various states of India. There will be more dragon boat Racing at Manvers Lake next Sunday 8th September. The British Dragon Boat Racing Association will be holding a National League Event with about 25 teams racing throughout the day. This event will be he first race for our own Manvers Dragons who will be entering two teams. All are welcome to come and watch. Comments are closed.
