![]() British Dragon Boat Racing Association – National League Race at Manvers Lake Sunday 8th September 2019 Manvers Dragons! With warm sunshine and a clear blue sky, Manvers was at its glorious best on Sunday for an exciting day of dragon boat racing. The race which was hosted by Manvers Waterfront Boat Club was the final league meeting of the season and the first ever BDA National League Race to be held at the lake. With thirty-two teams from the length and breadth of the country, racing in four categories and over two distances of 200 and 450m, the stage was set for a hectic day of competitive racing. Taking part in their first competitive race was Manvers Waterfront Boat Club’s own dragon boat team – Manvers Dragons. In the words of Trevor Coldron, captain of Team Manvers Dragons; “We were really pleased to win the plate final beating teams who are well established in the sport – a great achievement for a team that was only formed seven weeks ago. The entire team is very excited about our next race - the BDA National Championships at Holme Pierrepont on 21st September The entire club came together to put on a fantastic event, and we received a great deal of praise and positive feedback about the event, the venue and our club. I believe we have succeeded in improving the impression of Manvers and the surrounding area. We will certainly be looking to host further events of this kind in the future.” Manvers Dragons are always on the look out for new paddlers - if you would like to try this exciting sport contact Trevor Coldron at trevor.coldron@manverslaketrust.co.uk or by phone on 01709 878984 Comments are closed.
