![]() It is with great sadness that we have recently learnt of the death of one of our members, Ryan Cocksedge. Ryan was a popular member of the paddlesport section and a qualified paddlesport coach – he will always be remembered at Manvers for his cheeky smile and unceasing good humour. We have lost a valued club member, fellow paddler and above all great friend and we will miss his companionship at the lake and on the river. I am sure all of you will join us in sending our heartfelt condolences on behalf of Manvers Waterfront Boat Club to Ryan’s family on their sad loss. We have started fund raising to buy some junior equipment - preferably a canoe or kayak and name it after Ryan as a lasting memorial. Please use the following link if you would like to contribute http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fund/RyanCocksedge It's MWBC's turn to run the release on the River Washburn near Harrogate. All help is welcome - talk to Ryan Quinn for info.
The Washburn is a 2 mile stretch of dam release river near Blubberhouses in North Yorkshire. Unpaddleable when the water is off, it turns in fast and continuous Grade 2 (one Grade 3 weir) when the dam is releasing. A nice step up for paddlers who have done some white water and want to move up a notch. If on doubt whether this is for you talk to Ryan Quinn or Bob Finch There will be a Paddlesport Section meeting at the boathouse on Thursday 13th October 2016 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The focus of the meeting will be on developing and improving the Paddlesport Section for the benefit of all members and the meeting is open to all club members who are interested in helping to move the section foreards, A full agenda is available via the link below;
