On Sunday 28th June we are holding a Stand Up Paddle Board Demo day at the club. Come and test drive the worlds best stand up paddle board kit. The fun starts at 10am!
It will be a day of fun on the water with the Starboard Tiki Tour demo kit, something for everyone, with technique sessions from the beginner to racer. Fun racing, SUP Polo, SUP Slalom.
On the 4th and 5th of July Manvers A and B Canoe Polo teams are combining as Manvers Combo (!) to enter the Joy Davis Hull International Canoe Polo Challenge at Princess Quay in Hull. The team will feature a mixture of young and older players plus their support crew. Please feel free to come along and support the team as they represent our club on an international stage.
Ask Andy Hyde for more details.
Manvers canoe slalom squad will be competing at the Howsham Weir slalom on the River Derwent near York over the weekend of 11th/12th July. This is a national Division 2/3 & 4 ranking event and sees club paddler Ryan Quinn pushing for promotion to Division 1 - not bad for someone who has been competing for just over a year!
The race is on mainly flat slow flowing water with the chute down the weir providing the main excitement . This is an ideal entry level slalom for newcomers to the sport and is always a good social event - their is camping on site for those who want to stay over the weekend.
If you are interested in coming along on one or both days to compete or just watch and support our paddlers ask Bob Finch or Ryan Quinn for details.
In collaboration with Green Star Canoe Club, Manvers Waterfront Boat Club will be hosting a Division 4 & Open Canoe Slalom event at the lake over the weekend of 13th/14th June 2015.
Saturday will be a practice day - a chance to paddle the course and try canoe slalom. A wide range of different slalom kayaks and canoes will be available to borrow, or you could just paddle one of the club plastic boats.
The actual race will be on Sunday - Run 1 in the morning and Run 2 after lunch. Entry is £5 for juniors and £7.25 for adults - no previous experience is necessary and there will be coaches on hand to give you plenty of advice. Why not come along and give it a go - you might even win a medal or get promoted!
Any help you can give would be much appreciated - again you don't need any previous experience. Let us know if you can help out or just turn up on the day and offer to help (you are unlikely to be turned down!)
