![]() We are running a beginners' river trip on Sunday 22nd January. The trip is on the River Derwent from Darley Bridge to Matlock - about 6km of easy Grade 1/2 moving water suitable for both kayaks and open canoes. If you would like to go on this trip we are meeting at Darley Bridge on the opposite side of the river from the Square & Compass pub at 9:30 am (satnav DE4 2JZ). The get out is at Artists Corner car park off Dale Road, Matlock (satnav DE4 3PP). All paddlers will need buoyancy aids, helmets, adequate warm clothing and footwear (plus a boat and paddle!). You should also bring a packed lunch and warm drink. Anyone wanting to borrow club kit for the trip - boats, paddles, buoyancy aids and helmets etc - must complete a loan form and pay the loan fee in advance of the trip. If you need help with transport either for yourself or a boat please let us know at paddlesport@mwbc.org.uk Please let us know if you intend to go this trip so we can make sure we have adequate safety cover. For more information about any of the above contact Bob Finch or Ryan Quinn. ![]() The two Hou 13 open canoes and four junior paddles bought as a memorial to club member Ryan Cocksedge were officially presented to the club last Saturday. The boats and paddles were presented at a short ceremony at the lake attended by many of Ryan's family and friends and club members. The canoes will allow young paddlers learn open canoeing skills and make a welcome addition to our fleet and a fitting memorial to a great friend and fellow paddler. Manvers Waterfront Boat Club would once again express it's gratitude to all of those who contributed to the fund which allowed us to buy the boats and paddles. |
