We are hosting a charity Dragon Boat event on Saturday 11 August 2018
Most club activities will be suspended for the day - There will be no Paddle Sport Session, Lifesaving Club, Model Boating or Fishing. The car park will be closed from 0700 to allow the large vehicles and trailers access to set up the event.
The racing will be over by 1630 when normal club activities will recommence
Station Road has now re-opened between Manvers Way and the club entrance which means you can now get to the boathouse from Wath without a 3.5 mile diversion through Bolton.
There are still some roadworks between the club entrance and Bolton but the road is open.
We have a new course for anyone wanting to start Open Water Swimming but who may need more support than joining a club session. Please use this link for more information OWS Courses
As some of you may already know, Station Road is closed between the Manvers Way roundabout and the entrance to the lake. This is due to contractors working on a blocked drain which has caused the recent flooding further down Station Road towards Bolton-on-Dearne. The contractors have also told us that the road is likely to remain closed for several weeks due to the nature of the blockage.
This means that anyone driving to or from the lake has to go via Bolton-on-Dearne. Unfortunately the rain that has fallen this afternoon has caused the road to flood again, and if the rain continues as forecast into the evening there is every chance the flooded road will become impassable. Basically there will be no way to get to the Boathouse by car.
A pump is supposed to be arriving tomorrow to prevent flooding until the drain is unblocked.
We have therefore reluctantly decided to cancel tonight's Paddlesport Session, Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience. Further updates on the road situation will be posted on the various club facebook pages.
Due to the forecast very cold weather and strong winds on Sunday 21 January the SUP race has been cancelled. It will now run on Sunday 8th April 2018
The Committee has asked me to write to every member of the club informing them that the Annual General Meeting is to take place on Saturday 24th February 2018 at the Boathouse starting at 1300 hours.
The purpose of the meeting is to present the clubs annual reports/accounts for last year, consult with the members on how the club is developing and elect representatives to serve on the committee. This meeting can be very busy so, only items on the agenda can be discussed.
The committee have proposed a slight raise in subscriptions to ensure we can continue to provide good facilities.
Junior from £30 to £33
Senior from £60 to £66
Family from £90 to £99
If people want to pay before April at the old rate they can have 12 months added to their membership.
The Committee may have vacant roles and would particularly like members to consider whether they could volunteer to take on a position on the Committee. This can only happen if people are nominated so please consider standing for the Committee.
The General Meeting will be in accordance with the club rules and please note the following:
The articles of association and rules are on the clubs website, if you want more information.
